We had the pleasure of work Melissa for 18 whole months! Finding a wedding planner was an important decision, especially since we are based in NYC, but Melissa took so much time to help us find the right venue for our wedding and mehndi event. She also helped us secure some of the best vendors in the area and made the weekend of so seamless. She is such a calming presence during a really stressful process and always had such a great attitude. Her assistant Kayla was also exceptional and helped keep us informed while ensuring we had a good time during our wedding weekend. She brought our tiny Pinterest board to life and I’m so grateful we had the opportunity to work with Melissa 🤍

Working with Melissa and her amazing team was the best decision we made for our wedding! From the get go Melissa was so wonderful to work with and made sure all the small details were handled. Because Melissa was welcoming her second little one (congrats to Melissa!!) right around our wedding we had the amazing Kayla and Alex helping us out on our wedding day and they absolutely nailed every detail! Our ceremony and reception spaces were perfect and Kayla and Alex were on top of everything. We cannot thank this amazing team enough for everything they did on our wedding day!!

She came highly recommended by a friend, and from our very first meeting we knew we were in the best hands. Melissa's calm presence, attention to detail and genuine care made the entire planning process feel easy, enjoyable and completely stress-free. From the beginning, our biggest wish was to be able to fully enjoy our wedding day without worrying about the logistics and Melissa delivered on that promise flawlessly. Thanks to her and her team everything ran seamlessly behind the scenes allowing us to be completely present and soak in every moment on our wedding day! We hired Melissa Allison Events for month‑of coordination for our multi‑day wedding, and while there were some aspects we appreciated, our overall experience fell short of what we had hoped for. Their standard coordination package didn’t fit in well with some aspects of multi-day weddings. Expectations that work well for a one‑day wedding — such as décor pickup/drop‑off not being included or limiting guest communication to the event itself — didn’t translate well to a multi‑day event. While we would have been happy to pay more, the only option we were given was to upgrade to the full-planning package which doesn’t make sense when we’d already planned the entire wedding. Across the weekend, we found ourselves fielding questions from vendors and guests because our coordinator didn’t consistently establish herself as the primary point of contact. This added stress during moments when we were hoping to be fully present. Additionally, there were several coordination gaps — microphone issues went unaddressed, our photographers were given incorrect information about the event flow, and we ended up managing all communication between a lion dance group, our Chinese banquet venue and ourselves. The following day, chairs were initially arranged behind pillars and had to be corrected by a family member, and a misunderstanding around cleanup wasn’t escalated or resolved, which ultimately led to our damage deposit being withheld. We also noticed a lack of preparation around the non‑Western elements of our ceremony, which resulted in confusion for participants and hesitation from the coordination team at key moments. We recognize that multicultural weddings can introduce unfamiliar elements, and we appreciate that the team was willing to take ours on. However, we were hoping for more proactive engagement, clearer ownership, and stronger support throughout the weekend. Saying all this, MAE had great visual sense, strong organization, and were very easy to communicate with. For a traditional 1-day western wedding we would recommend them without hesitation. If you’re looking for something more complex however, you may want to consider other options.
